The Ranger 2012 Ford is slightly larger than the Ranger currently being sold in the United States. However, according to a recent Ford press release, the Ranger 2012 is not slated for sale in the United States. The new Ford 2012 Ranger is considered a “global” vehicle, in that it is being produced without country-specific variants.

Even though the press release made no mention of sales within the United States, it only seems logical that Ford will eventually sell the Ranger 2012 stateside, especially considering that the Ranger currently selling in the US is scheduled for termination by next year.

The Ranger 2012, officially known as the T6 test truck, was claimed to have greater power and enhanced fuel economy due to a new family of Ford engines. Ford also stated that the new Ford 2012 Ranger has been tested in places like Australia, Middle Eastern deserts and European Alps, logging over one million kilometers of test driving. Test trucks were spotted configured in both right-hand and left-hand steering models.

The Ranger 2012 appeared both longer and wider than the Ranger currently being sold overseas. According to the design and appearance of the vehicle, the redesigned Ford Ranger 2012 would fit just below the Ford F-150 in the Ford family of trucks. Some of the test vehicles that were photographed contained various types of engines, including gasoline burning and diesel. There is speculation that the new Ford Ranger 2012 specs will be sporting a newly designed Ford engine.

The new Ford Ranger 2012 specs gets the power which comes from a choice of new engines – a new 2.2-litre Ford Durator turbo diesel four-cylinder engine putting out 147 hp and generating 276 lb.-ft. of torque, a new 197-hp 3.2-litre inline five cylinder turbo diesel and a 163-hp 2.5-litre Duratec “four”, which can be configured to run on straight ethanol (for those markets that use it). Five or six speed manuals and six-speed automatic transmissions are available across the Ranger 2012 lineup, with the automatic featuring grade logic control.

Depending on the market (180 across five continents), the Ranger 2012 will be offered in three cab body styles (regular, extended and crew), rear wheel and 4×4 drive trains (the latter with an electronic transfer case), two ride heights and up to five series. The model differentiation in the Ranger 2012 Ford will feature everything from bare bones, hose-out interiors to near luxury models with leather seating and a complete array of driver aids.

The new 2012 Ranger Truck platform will also be used by Mazda for a B-Series replacement. About 90% the size of the current F-150, the new Ranger 2012 not only boosts towing capacity but also provides truck owners a safe and comfortable, feature-filled interior.

Competitors
The new Ford Ranger 2012 price start from $19,740 for the petrol 2.5-litre single cab/chassis 4×2 manual and peak at $59,390 for the double cab Wildtrak 3.2 diesel auto. A revelation in the ute world, the Ranger 2012 is almost certain to give Ford its long-awaited lift out of the doldrums. The Ford Ranger 2012 faces stiff competition from other vehicle such as the 2012 Chevrolet Colorado and 2012 Toyota Hilux Vigo Champ.

The all-new Chevy Colorado is dubbed the true American truck spirit. While the 2012 Toyota Hilux Vigo Champ went through minor upgrades which is the most significant minor facelift seen since the vehicle was actually launched way back in late 2004. In terms of power gains and safety to towing capability, the Ford Ranger 2012 leads the motor vehicle market segment.
