We know the new 2013 Dodge Viper will bow in next year, we just don’t know exactly when. While most are expecting the new Viper 2013 to debut at Dodge’s hometown event, next month’s 2012 Detroit Auto Show, we may in fact only see the 2013 Dodge Viper next April at the 2012 New York Auto Show.
While at first it may seem strange that Dodge would choose to skip Detroit, especially when you consider the brand’s strong links with the city, New York’s global presence and the increasing importance of its annual auto show is more aligned with Dodge’s desire to turn the 2013 Dodge Viper into a world class supercar.
Insiders at the event said that the 2013 Dodge Viper will come with a more aggressive design, featuring all-new bodywork painted 25 times in candy-apple red. They also said the 2013 Dodge Viper look had moved away from its race-car roots and evolved into a more traditional sports car. There isn’t any information as of yet on what the 2013 Dodge Viper will look like.
However, the company announced the 2013 Dodge Viper will be sportier and wilder than the current generation. Dealers who saw the 2013 Viper Concept version said that the 2013 Dodge Viper will be a combination between the 8C and a Viper; however Dodge denied those rumors.
More information was provided for the 2013 Dodge Viper at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show when Ralph Gilles, head of Chrysler’s design, took the mic. When discussing the new Viper, he said that Dodge wants to “make it a renaissance of that vehicle,” in order to attract buyers younger than 45. He also denied that the 2013 Dodge Viper will use engines from Fiat’s Ferrari brand. That’s nice, but he failed to mention where the 2013 Dodge Viper power will come from.
Not much else is known about the new Viper 2013, although there have been some latest news 2013 Dodge Viper reported that it may be packing an even bigger 8.7-liter V-10. Speculation raises several possibilities on the 2013 Dodge Viper, but the most frequent—and most likely—is a revised version of the 8.4-liter V-10 equipped with Fiat’s Multiair variable intake-valve timing system.
The 2013 Dodge Viper output could be as high as 700 horsepower if Chrysler/Fiat decides to challenge the 2013 Corvette ZR1. If that’s the case, a more modestly priced version may be offered with Chrysler’s 6.4 Hemi V-8. The 2013 Dodge Viper likely will keep its six-speed manual gearbox.

Dodge is hard at work trying to reinvent the 2013 Dodge Viper for the 2013 model year. As of right now, they are working on the new 2013 Dodge Viper engine that will be found under that long hood. This is evidenced by a 2013 Dodge Viper mule recently caught testing with the new Viper front end attached to the old body style. Something is cooking under the 2013 Dodge Viper hood and whatever engine that may be, it will need plenty of fresh air to keep it cool.
When the new Viper 2013 is offered on the market, the list of competitors will be long: models like the Acura NSX or the next generation Lotus Esprit come to mind as future cars that will try to give the 2013 Dodge Viper a run for its money. These may be the competitors in the Viper’s category, but a true comparison can only be made once we know what the heck is going on with the 2013 Dodge Viper. Meanwhile, the 2013 Dodge Viper price is expected to start from $95,000.
