GM has officially unveiled the changes to the 2012 Chevy Camaro. The Camaro celebrates its 45th anniversary with a special appearance package. For the 2012 Chevy Camaro specifications, it gets a more powerful V6 engine, a new performance suspension for SS coupes and interior improvements. The 2012 Chevy Camaro gets new instrument panel and steering wheel, plus Bluetooth and a standard rear spoiler.
A power passenger seat and a rear parking assist is also available on the 2012 Chevy Camaro. Aside from looking good, the 2012 Chevy Camaro boasts a load of engineering feats that help it achieve a great combination of power and fuel efficiency. Rated at 323 horsepower, and as high as 30 miles per gallon on the highway, the engineering in its 3.6L direct injected LFX engine is nothing to look over. And GM is willing to share just how the 2012 Chevy Camaro V6 sees an 11 horsepower jump over least years model.
The 2012 Chevy Camaro specifications got new 3.6L Direct Injection V-6 , the LFX engine goes into production this summer. It delivers an SAE-certified 323 horsepower (241 kW) at 6,800 rpm an increase of 11 horsepower (8 kW) over the 2011 engine, with no compromise in fuel economy. The LFX delivers the most standard power in the regular sports car segment. It is also 20.5 pounds (9.3 kg) lighter than its predecessor, which promotes a more balanced driving experience with the 2012 Chevy Camaro.
EPA-estimated highway fuel economy for the 2012 Chevy Camaro is 30 mpg (2LS model). Like people, engines perform better when they can breathe better. With that in mind, engineers improved the 2012 Chevy Camaro engine’s airflow by seven percent through hours of simulation and bench testing. From that minor tweak, engineers saw an improvement of 11 horses, with a 10 percent improvement in exhaust flow. Couple that with 13 extra pounds of lost weight thanks to integrating the exhaust manifolds to the aluminum cylinder head, and the LFX engine is one fine piece of engine. The new fuel pump on this 2012 Chevy Camaro is quieter, while the isolated fuel rail further reduces fuel system noise.
The 2012 Chevy Camaro model year brings appearance, ergonomic and technology upgrades inside for Camaro drivers and passengers. The inside of the 2012 Chevy Camaro also gets upgraded with a revised instrument panel appearance, with new instrument graphics and trim, as well as a new steering wheel design and a power lift feature for the front passenger seat. The steering wheel is also new and there is a new Rear Vision Package that includes a rearview camera system and an auto-dimming mirror.
The 2012 Chevy Camaro will start production 7/18/11, this applies to both the 2012 Chevy Camaro Convertible and Coupe. The 2012 Chevy Camaro release date will be in the May timeframe. Also coming in early 2012 is the high-performance 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1, the most technologically advanced car ever developed in its segment. The 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 will come packing 580 hp under the hood when it goes on sale early next year, which would make it the most powerful muscle car in America and a good deal more potent than the current top of the line Camaro SS with its 426 hp V8. The 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 price has not been set, but it’s likely to fall in the $50-60,000 range.
