Today, BMW has released a new teaser video of the 2012 BMW X6 M50d. In the latest BMW X6 M50d video clip, Brian Watts – BMW M GmbH Head of Global Sales and Marketing – says “This is a new kind of car. On every road, you feel like you’re on a race track.” He sums up his feeling by commenting “It deserves the M badge”.
His sentiments about the 2012 BMW X6 M50d are echoed by Sales Director Thomas Schemera who reveals “It looks like a sports machine; it sounds like a sports machine.” He also hints the 2012 BMW X6 M50d “the steering is amazing for a street car” and “you don’t fear stopping.”
As you can see from the video, the 2012 BMW X6 M50d has the front and rear fascias blurred which can only mean one thing, which the crossover will come in a minor facelift, with a new design for the head lights, tail lamps and maybe a new front grille. However, new details are starting to emerge about the 2012 BMW X6 M50d. First up, the 2012 BMW X6 M50d is expected to go into production in April with a tri-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that develops 381 PS (280 kW / 375 hp) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque – 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) more than originally speculated.
This could enable the 2012 BMW X6 M50d to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds which is just 0.2 seconds slower than the standard X6 M. In terms of efficiency, the 2012 BMW X6 M50d is expected to average 6.3 L/100 km (37.3 mpg US / 44.8 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 165 g/km.

BMW’s M division is delving new depths for its new variants of X6 SUV, the M division is back with some pretty exciting details on the BMW’s two new cars, the BMW M550d and BMW X6 M50d models. To make it clearer, the BMW X6 M50d and the BMW M550d are the two new cars powered by diesel powertrains, while the BMW M550d is the much talked about diesel variant of the M5 sedan.
As of now, its just the European markets where the launch of the BMW M550d and BMW X6 M50d models is expected to take place. Meanwhile, a top Volkswagen executive told Automotive News Europe that Audi was also considering another smaller SUV, possibly called Q4, to compete with the BMW X6 M50d, confirmed by BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer, the X4 could hit the market in 2014.
